PROJECT DESCRIPTION
A BAM Nuttall / Mott MacDonald joint venture has led the construction on the second phase of the Apperley Bridge Section of the Leeds Flood Alleviation Scheme Phase 2, in an area which was impacted by the floods of December 2015. Flood defences have been built on the River Aire, upstream of Leeds Station as part of a catchment wide approach to reducing flood risk. Leeds City Council is working in partnership with the Environment Agency on this part of the scheme, which aims to invest £112.1 million in flood prevention measures for areas upstream of Leeds city centre, to better protect the nearby sports facility. 418m³ of concrete integrally coloured with HATCRETE Pewter Colourmix has been supplied by Breedon. Phase 2 will give protection against a 1 in 200 chance of flooding in any given year along an 8km stretch upstream of Leeds Station. These works are expected to be completed by summer of 2024.
PROJECT REQUIREMENTS
To Supply 418m³ of HATCRETE Pewter Colourmix to the Breedon Plant who provided the concrete for BAM Nuttall for the integrally coloured decorative concrete flood defence wall.
